New Strategy Announcement

New Strategy Announcement

After five years of dedicated research and an extensive consultation process across Europe and the U.S., we are proud to announce our new strategy. By bridging key gaps in private capital mobilization – capacity, policy, and culture – we aim to build a more resilient and impact-oriented future for Central and Eastern Europe through collaboration and partnerships.

The strategy comes at a crucial moment. While the region has made remarkable economic progress since it transitioned to capitalism 35 years ago, social responsibility remains an underdeveloped pillar of society, not yet shaping individual or business decision-making at scale.

Investments in organizations pivotal to the region’s transformation have not been developing fast enough. In Poland, 71% of nonprofit organizations operate on an annual budget of less than $25,000 and remain heavily reliant on public and international funding. Impact investments account for less than 0.5% of the mainstream market. In light of recent significant reductions in international funding, mobilizing private capital for social good is more urgent than ever.

Despite these challenges, the potential for transformation is immense. The region is seeing growing infrastructure, evolving investor interest, and increasing European Union pressures on businesses and governments to engage. CEE citizens are willing to double their philanthropic contributions. Now is the time to drive the systemic change.

Our Three-Pillar Strategy

To unlock this potential, we have developed a comprehensive strategy focused on three interconnected interventions:

  1. Capacity and Structures:
Developing robust mechanisms, structures and a strong talent pipeline to strengthen private capital mobilization in the region: consultants and advisors to guide capital owners, development professionals to support capital seekers, as well as financial tools, frameworks, and infrastructure.
  2. Policy and Advocacy:
Supporting governments in simplifying policies: advancing EU-level and national advocacy efforts, incentivizing social engagement of private capital owners, and stimulating market-oriented activities in the social sector.
  3. Values and Culture:
Cultivating responsible citizens and leaders by fostering a societal mindset rooted in responsibility, accountability, and integrity: leveraging, existing initiatives and infrastructure, cultivating thought leaders across sectors, building capacity to cultivate character and values.

For the above three pillars to function properly, reliable data is essential.

From Potential to Progress

Through thorough analysis, we have identified that the most effective way to approach the implementation stage is to unify these three strategic pillars under one umbrella. As a regional hub for advancing philanthropy and social responsibility, the Social Impact Alliance for Central and Eastern Europe will strengthen and consolidate national efforts across the region to avoid fragmentation, enhance efficiency, reduce duplication, foster knowledge exchange, and drive more effective solutions to regional challenges that transcend national borders.

Our Unique Positioning

With 18 years of experience in the field, we are uniquely positioned to drive this transformation, having dedicated the last five years to building a strong foundation for change:

  • Conducted the most comprehensive research on philanthropy and social responsibility in the CEE region.
  • Established value-based partnerships with over 250 key stakeholders from the private, public, and social sectors.
  • Invested over $700,000 – through our own funds, volunteer work, grants, and pro bono services – to prepare for implementation.

Our team, board, and partners are ready to lead this effort. The breadth of collaboration, grounded in shared values, is essential – no organization can navigate such complex change alone.
